Student theatre "Piron" at the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" was founded in 1987. Since the autumn of 1990, its manager has been the actor from the Ruse drama theatre "Sava Ognyanov" - Vencislav Petkov.
Twenty years is not little. This means two decades for a theatre formation to develop, pursue its goals, increase and protect its authority / which only and only happens with honest creative work/.
Over the years, the members of this collective have been students, who subsequently established themselves in various fields. Some actively participate in the cultural life of Ruse, and others took the path of journalism and work in various media of our city and other large cities in Bulgaria. There is nothing more valuable than for a theatre to cultivate aesthetic taste and creative passion in dozens of its members during these many theater seasons.
The main goal of the student theatre "Nail" is not only to entertain, but to create criteria, to form a taste for true values in art. Different forms of the comic form the basis of our work over the years - satire, grotesque, tragicomedy, buffoonery, farce. Authors such as Chekhov, Woody Allen, Dario Fo, Hristo Boychev, Radichkov, Shakespeare, Kamen Donev have provoked us in the style we are looking for. We are not afraid of the big names in world drama. On the contrary, good scripts challenge young actors to prove their point. The fact that our troupe seeks comedy as the main genre in its performances opens us up to a wide audience. This is fertile ground for finding contemporary accents in classic texts. We must transfer bridges from the past to the present day. During its twenty-year history, the student theatre "Nail" has in its biography hundreds of performances, participations and awards from various festivals, but above all, the proven loyalty of its audience.
